MarketWatch Gets EGC’s Point-of-View on Meta

EGC President Nicole Penn recently offered her opinions and insights to MarketWatch about the Facebook change to Meta, and what it signifies.

Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement of these changes—in name and practice—are under the proverbial microscope due to both Facebook’s outage last month and Congressional testimony from Frances Haugen, former employee of the platform-turned whistleblower.

Many believe that Zuckerberg is avoiding the realities and responsibilities of his situation, and Nicole points out that to try and “distract by recreating corporate structures” is a difficult task. And even if he can personally distance himself from the conflict and controversy, entering “the metaverse front” and competing against brands that include Microsoft, Coca Cola, and Nike will present another set of daunting challenges.
